ASE 7 Impressionism Art
In our ASE class, we are studying the impressionist era of art in France. We are currently working on some masterpieces which are either an inspiration or a new version of a famous painting. Stay tuned for photos from our art show.
7th Grade Immigrant Reenactment
Here are a few scenes from the immigrant reenactment that we held on Thursday, December 6th. Thanks again to Mrs. Cook for helping us out, and to her class for being an audience.

Random Posts....Holiday Bazaar....DC....7th Grade Assembly Line
Students,
Well, I just posted the explorer treasure chest pictures, and I am on a roll. So I thought I would post a few more things...all random...
First, here is a video from my seventh grade class a couple of weeks ago. We were simulating Henry Ford's assembly line.....The winning team with the most bookmarks made got some extra credit points on the industrialist era test...of course quality mattered as well.
Secondly, here is a quick 13 second video with Mrs. Cook wrestling with the bamboo in my room. In case you don't know, the bamboo is going to be used in some of my students' holiday bazaar booth. I think we have some future engineers in our midst. I am anxious to see how the booth turns out! In the video you will notice the bell is ringing to end class, and we are still picking up our mess...

Thirdly, here is a video from a guy who has been to the Hotel Harrington. For you seventh graders, you will remember this hotel from last year. Sixth graders, watch the video to get an idea of what the hotel looks like.
Next, we have an advertisement from Ford's Theatre about the play, "A Christmas Carol." I believe this is from a couple of years ago, but watch it to get an idea of what to expect!
Finally, here is a video from the Smithsonian Institute on the American History Museum. It gives you a general idea of what you can see in the museum. Preview it to get an idea of what to expect. This video appears to have been made by students about their experiences at the museum.
Coming soon.....watch for postings from the holiday bazaar as well as my French ASE class and their impressionist paintings.....

Explorer Treasure Chests
We had our explorer treasure chest expo in the cafeteria on Friday. The treasure chests were outstanding! Did you have a favorite? It's hard to pick. Comment on any that you think were good!
Mrs. Cook and I tried to get everyone's picture. I hope no one was left out. Taking your photos is kind of like herding cats!

Native American Artifact Museum
It has been a long time since I've posted! I've been horrible!!!!!
This year has proved to be a very busy year with teaching social studies 6, social studies 7, ASE 6 and ASE 7! I am enjoying keeping busy, but this blog has fallen by the wayside....
Well, it is time to begin writing again, and our Native American Artifact Museum provides the subject matter! You all did a great job with our museum, and I am very proud of all of your hard work. Below you will see some photos I took. Sorry if I didn't get one of you...it was too hectic in there!
Enjoy the photos....there are some "duplicates". I was trying to get someone to smile for the camera!
Good luck not losing power....I just heard we don't have school tomorrow!

Another Year!
It sure is hard to believe that another school year is upon us. This certainly has not been a summer that I will look back on fondly. But, as we all know, time marches on. Time for a new year, a new beginning, new adventures!
I will use this blog to post various happenings in class and with the Venturer and Navigator teams. I look forward to meeting my new students, and to greeting my 7th graders that already know me.
When I left for the summer, I was slated to teach two 7th grade social studies classes. Somehow that got changed, so now I am teaching one 7th grade section of social studies and one section of 7th grade ASE.
I am also in a new room. Even newer than the last one I had last year...and I have windows, so I lucked out on that.
I ran across a video from the group, The Script, the other day, and when I listened to it, I thought of all of the new beginning promises we all have in September. Make this year count, be your best. Do you realize we raised well over $30,000 for Relay for Life? You all were amazing last year, and I think we'll be amazing again.
