What a Great End of the Day

Today was one of those days...nothing really bad...just a million things going on.  Do you ever have one of those days when you think you've been stretched so thin that you can't do anything well because you don't have time to focus on any one particular thing?

After school today, I was picking up the remnants of my 7th grade lesson.  In class we discussed our upcoming immigration unit, and we began to assemble our file folders and get our immigrant identities when the clock seemingly starting ticking even faster, and I had to rush to get everyone to get their identities and folders together before the bell rang.  As I was picking up glue sticks and folders, I happened to walk back to the in-bin, and I noticed the four scrapbook pages that were turned in early today.  I was "wowed" with the quality of the pages.  I grabbed my camera and put them on desks, and I took some snapshots.

If someone had walked by the classroom and observed me taking close-up photos of desks they would have thought it a bit strange I guess, but I was eager to put these examples of work on the blog.  Of course, the photo work is a bit blurry, but you get to see the general idea of what these four students had in mind for their scrapbook invention page.

I am so incredibly lucky to teach students who put care and effort in their work.  After having such a hectic day, it was so wonderful to look at them.   I try hard not to take you all for granted, and today reminded me just how fortunate I am to teach all of you.  I eagerly await the other pages.  We will put them in a scrapbook for all to see.  I showed Mrs. Cook after school, and she was helping me with ideas of how to bind them.  As your ex-English teacher, I must say that she was really impressed.

I just know that our immigration reenactment will be a smashing success.  I will film parts of it and put it on the blog..we will have fun!

More information will be coming in the next week concerning just how this reenactment will work...

You got your identities today.  Begin looking at home for a cool costume to wear.  Do not go out and buy things.  I am sure you can find some really interesting things to wear at home to make your character seem real!
